Dutchess County Ducks Unlimited Honors Gretchen Stevens

September 2017—Gretchen Stevens was honored by Dutchess County Ducks Unlimited with their Chapter’s Wetlands Conservation Award. Gretchen has directed our Biodiversity Resources Center since its inception, and is co-author of the Biodiversity Assessment Manual for the Hudson River Estuary Corridor. In her announcement Stancy DuHamel, founder of the Ducthes County chapter, noted that Gretchen is “an educator, she lays out the facts and she wants you to have all the information possible so you can make an informed decision. That helps advance the dialogue about habitat conservation and its impacts on people and wildlife.”

The award especially noted her work in the watershed of the Great Swamp, one of the largest freshwater wetlands in New York State.
